Metallica's new album "Death Magnetic" is close to being done and the band has released their first single The Day That Never Comes.  Check it out it's available for listening on their website.  I just heard it and honestly I can't help but feel a little disappointed and sad that they've lost their edge.  The new single feels contrived, unauthentic....like an imitation of an imitation of Metallica in the 80s; it's over-produced, watered down, and just keeps missing the mark.  The single starts out sounding like Fade To Black, and that's the best I can say about it, from there it's all a down-hill spiral of thrashing riffs that go nowhere.  These guys are loosing their relevance in todays pop culture.... What do you think, is their age showing?

how do u think the new album is going to be? reviews say that metallica are going to base their new albums on thier best songs. do u think they'll go back to playing stuff like master or ride??
